People come people go. I’m going Qing Ming tomorow so there will no update for a couple of days. Ivan asked for HELP!, my prompt reply was “press F1″ - hehehe..
Sometimes, I do get pissed off when those people in my office ask for my help.

Colleague : Lee Cheong, can you come and please look at my computer? I switch on the computer but it show blank screen
Me : You sure?
Colleague : I’m pretty sure. Look, the monitor light is there. There’s power but blank dark screen
Me : WTF!! WTF!! Ok. coming.

After 5 seconds looking at it.

Me : You didn’t switch the on button on the computer. You switch on the power cord only. WTF WTF WTF, waste my 5 seconds and interrupted my blogging mood Some of the jokes about those whom lack of IT knowledge - true stories

A customer called in the middle of night awaken a friend of a friend of mine. She encountered some problem with the custom-made application written on visual basic. After hours on the phone trying to solve the problem, he ask her to press F7, regarding some function. Then she complaint that it is not working and flamed him for his poor application. After a few attempts, she ask him…. I think it should be 7F and not F7. ( Meaning she doesn’t know about the F1 to F12 button on top of the keyboard)

The other story was about the printer. A client called in the middle of night, yes at night again to complaint that the printer is not working. She meant that the printer won’t print the things out. Nothing come out. This friend of mine was shocked and since this was one of the priority client, he have to travel all the way to Subang to solve her problem. When he reached there, he found out that it was the catridge that ran out of ink.

I’m sure there’s plenty of similar stories or if you have anything, can share with us.
From what i can derive from these stories is that these people are women. I’m not stereotyping here but it’s the fact that most women are afraid of computer.

Since i have been writing this long, it’s better if i include another story about a man who doesn’t know anything about IT. In order to provide his privacy, his name has been changed to John.

Last month, I received a phone call from John. He sounds so urgent and important the issues. He asked me to go to his house. It was 9 something and I was suppose to meet Kelvin nearby my house. John sounds so urgent and when I asked what’s wrong, he told me that he got this document with a table. He wanted to modify the column and some changes but he can’t change it . I told him I was unable to go there since I promised Kelvin earlier. Do note that John was a lecturer that taught IT in local college.

I was almost forgotten about the issue when my friends gathered at Amelia’s place for BBQ last two week. Suddenly, Fong told a story about John. From what Fong said, John called Fong earlier and ask Fong to go to his house from Kepong taking a cab. Fong reluctant since it was damn far and very late at night. Fong was worried that if he go all the way to John’s house, he couldn’t solve the problem and in the end, waste time and effort. So, being IT graduate Fong requested John to email the document to him and solve it for him. After a while, Fong still can’t receive the email and he contacted John again. Since the email failed, John ask Fong to go to his house again and Fong diverted to me. No wonder I received the call from John.

After John found out that I was unable to go to his place, he contacted Fong and request for help. Fong searched his mobile phone and found Mr. T’s phone number. Being a quick-witted, he called Mr T and with luck, Mr T was at Setapak and he went to be the saviour of the day for John. After the clock struck 12 midnight, Mr T called Fong and told him something all of us was unexpected.

John couldn’t edit the table no matter how hard he try because the table was an image file.

Yesterday during my meeting with my department head, aka Chris, he told me that there will be 9(Sembilan, Nine, Neun, Neuf, Nueve, Nove) people shall be leaving the company. Ehhmm… i think i can ask for increment already since there will be 9 people leaving and lack of manpower. *Flashes evil grin* So, what is so special and excited about nine with me? Let me put it this way. In previous employment, there was 9 people, yes, 9 people again leaving the company in the month of July,2004.

Then this company also have 9-bead calculus as well. Eehhmm. What else? I can’t think of anything yet. They are celebrating the birthday for the month of March. Nice looking cake is near my sight.

She called twice. I say ‘No’ twice, politely of course. I know she dislike it when i said NO. My heart feel ache coz’ it doesn’t sound like me. However, i am working and i need to do what i am suppose to do which is working and not blogging. I can’t just go and fetch them. It will took me about 30-45 minute including the traffic situation especially it is raining now. My common sense tell me that they will be all right waiting for a couple of hours. There’s guard in the school and it’s suppose to be safe compound. These kid are my nieces, age 7,9 and 11.

I keep telling myself that i used to wait for the bus to pick me up for hours when i was in primary school. When there’s no bus come, only i would call my uncle to pick me up. That time my family doesn’t own a car. I started go home on my own after standard 5. So, i don’t know if my action was correct or not. So does it make me into a devil or almost evil?

And i do notice that the movie touched some taboo stuff that we wont be seeing in local cinema, thanks to the censorship from hell. During the last 10 minute of the movie, i suddenly felt shaky. I asked my sis, do u felt anything? I feel my chair is shaking. After that, we trying to listen if there’s anything going to happen. Nothing, just the floor like moving for me… Was it earthquake? Damn, my streamyx has been suspended or else i will google the web. Now that it’s over, I continue with another movie title “The Eye 10″ - a horror movie by Pang Brother. Don’t watch on vcd tho’ coz u cannot see the ghost clearly and it won’t scare u enough.

The movie was teaching us the 10 ways to contact and seeing the ghosts. One of the ways was the common one, the board with characters…scary? It seems that doesn’t matter where you are, the medium used to contact the peeps from other realm almost the same. The most interesting method was sitting at the crossroad in the middle of nite, bringing some food along. What to do then? Getting the bowl and chopstick and keep knocking it. The ghost shall appear - hungry ghost that once died of hunger. As the legend says, these peeps are hungry forever and can’t have enough. That’s why in prison when someone is about to be sentence to death, they were given good food.

After 3 cycle of earth orbiting the sun, i received not-going-to-disclose email. Pretty shocking that i don’t know what am i going to do with this person. Sort of confused and yet, feel inferior when it comes to this person. As the chinese proverb goes, “When the boat reach the bridge, it naturally move straight” and the other sayings that my friend Ca Tak often told me “Cutting won’t do, Care become messy” which means no matter what you do, it will not gone or it become even worse. Better leave it as it is.

As Qing Ming comes near, it’s time to take leave to pay respect to my late father. I’m not sure when because i need to make a few phone calls. I once read a book where it says your filial piety are not judge from the moment they died but rather what is down the road 3 years later.

I’m totally confused now.

For example, the sms.ac evil scheme where it will continue to sms u and charge u ofr every sms they sent without ur consent. You can only stop it by requesting STOP ALL sms to 32151. A friend of mine who work with the company that provide sms.ac platform for SMS says we need to make noise, like say.. complain to Maxis, Star’s Hotline and etc. Making a big fuss about it. So, i will start here. Everyone… DO NOT REGISTER with SMS.AC. It’s a freaking scam!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, back to the movie review. I just watched Robots last nite at BTS(Berjaya Times Square). The cinema was awesome.. Huge, and cold .. and the seatings are perfectly neat. I think i can go there often instead of Mid Valley sometimes. One thing bad about the cinema in Times Square is that it doesn’t provide midnight show :\ I usually catch these movies somewhere after 9pm. That’s the time where there isn’t much traffic on the road.

My life seems fine. Sometimes, my mind keep asking.. what the hell is with chinese people? What is the glue that makes us stick together like the old time, where everyone were talkin about brotherhood and stuff like that. Now, the things that moved us will be .. money, yup.. $$$ will be the issue here.

later on the afternoon, i had another interview that was out of my expectation. Reason for it? simple, i was ask to attend an interview at on of the famous call centre in KLCC area. The job position was to be IT Technical Support in Ethan’s term.. TECHNICIAN. He got me big time. Yes, i was offered the technician position and i feel weird to be offered such position. Nonetheless, it’s shift-based work and routine job. I hate routine. Still pending but i’m sure the remuneration will be good ^_^

Streamyx has been cut and today i take a day off. Stress level is reaching max after i gone interview… I have to spilt everything out. I hate the job, i hate waking up early in the morning and i hate mediocre lifestyle.

Go here to update it. I’ve been dozzing to sleep earlier than i can imagine yesterday night. I was off to bed at 8.30 pm and can’t even wake up this morning at 8am. sheeshh. dont know what’s wrong with me.
