In SRJK (Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan), a primary school dedicated to particular mother language as medium, the Chinese society in here are making a fuss about it. Can’t blame them too. The implementation of using English in Maths and Science was so sudden that the are lack of resources. We always fail to plan, aren’t we?
Let’s us see what they arguing about.
1. Some children are weak in English command. Thus, when we teach Maths and Science in English, therefore there are unable to compete and understand.
Of course la. The blardy teachers in those primary school are Chinese educated. Their command of English is as poor as the students. No, i’m stereotyping. Really. When I read the examination papers from my nieces, the blardy whole things are farktup. Even supervised by a Malay/Chinese/Indian. Sigh* There’s no quality in the teacher ma….
2. Maths are easily taught in Chinese
Basics, yes. Advanced? No. How you going to explain all the terms in Chinese. Dude, guys, think in bigger picture. The BIG picture. Try cater for the whole community of Malaysia. We are living with other races as well.
3. Kids cannot understand the terms well if taught in English
Eh.. you know what is Law of Gravity? Moore’s Law? whatever law that has been defined ages and eons ago. Don’t care what language you use as long as they can understand fair enough. They only need to understand the meaning and the benefits of the terms only. What ler….
Fark I don’t know ler. I feel that Malaysia’s Chinese are damn too rigid. Chinamen can already accept revolution and changes. We kenot ah? Taiwanese learn their English in their secondary F2. So? Are they any good?
