Chinese New Year Eve

Under the Sun

This year, I spent my reunion dinner with my uncle’s family. My mom is away working somewhere east coast. A very simple and decent meals prepared by my aunt. After that, we went for mamak at night (about 8pm) to catch a live football from Astro.

We headed home to celebrate the new lunar year. This time around, the atmosphere seems dull. No sound of the firecrackers. It’s not even like a Chinese New Year. Sigh* What the …. My uncle decided to usher for God of Wealth this year. Best of all, we could see the neighbors also doing the same thing.

We reached home at 10pm preparing for the event. While waiting, we had a game or two of Blackjack just to kill time as well as create some new year spirit. The kids are bored without any firecrackers. It’s something we don’t play everyday.

It reminds me that how important is family. Never take them for granted. This is because one of my cousin who was born at the 1st day of lunar calendar couldn’t celebrate his birthday and new year with us. His person is in Aussie working. The family reunion dinner used to consist of a very large group turned out to be very simple and small over time.

It’s been more than 10 years since my dad and my uncle having the family reunion dinner at the eve of new lunar year. I wish that one day all of my family members could sit down under the same roof having dinner together. It’s a blissful feeling I wanted to feel. ]]>

On this day..
