You are rich if…

Under the Sun 5 Comments

1. You have a car.

2. You drive a car.

3. You owned a car.

That’s the statement given by Bruce. He told me he envy of me owning a car. Well not to say that I really own a car but still under repayment to the bank that finance the loan. Back to topic, Bruce will return from Australia and start working after many years involving in educating himself and getting a certificate.

He will be working in Subang but he is staying with family in Taman Melawati. Therefore he might need to take a lot of time for travelling. My suggestion to him earlier was to try out taking public transportation to work before he make any decision such as like getting a car or shifting and rent a room there. He need to work in Subang because of the scholarship repayment program by the corporation that finance him.

Bruce told me that he was envy of me had a car. Well, I used to be in his shoe. Especially when I saw Shaun and the rest driving while I still relying on the public transportation to get me from a destination to another destination. Having own car seems like a luxury to me back then. When I left the college and start entering the commercial world, I needed a transportation to get me there. My first job was in Mines Waterfront Park. Hence it’s inconvenient for me to stay there as it’s quite remote.

I doesn’t have much option and the only car I can afford is Iswara. I paying about 30% of what I made back then just for the car loan repayment. Hehehehe… it was a choice I need to make as staying there isn’t a good option. Now after 2 years passed, I still doesn’t find owning a car is a luxury. It’s a liability and you paying the price to own a car. A typical car doesn’t shows that a person is rich or not. In fact, depending on what kind of car you can afford at your stage of life. If a person like me (in their 20s) driving a Mercedes,BMW or any car that’s above Toyota Camry status, I would consider them rich and successful. However, we don’t know how much they spend for the loan repayment for such car models. What we know is just the surface or it could be their parents car.

So, Bruce… I really hope you can understand where I am coming from. Sekian majulah Sukan untuk negara.

Movies for 2007

Reviews 1 Comment

My supplier told me that he is anticipating for 3 movies for the year 2007. Curious, I asked him what movies he is looking forward for. He told me the following:-

Spiderman 3

Transformer Movie

Ghost Rider

Hell yeah I heard many about Spiderman 3 and even I myself have blogged about Transformer but Ghost Rider? Hence, I googled about it and found the trailer interesting too.

Plot Outline

A motorcycle stuntman, Johnny Blaze, makes a pact with a dark force, known as Mephisto, selling his soul to save his adopted father. When the bargain goes sour and the man isn’t saved, Blaze is transformed into “the spirit of vengeance,” Ghost Rider.

*from wikipedia

Nice. Might release during summer of 2007.

P/S : ok. i changed my mind. After I gone through wikipedia, there’s plenty of sequel to be released during the year 2007. Namely, POTC3, Shrek 3, AVP2 and lots more.

Debtor

We was talking last night. It was about planning for future. What is his next move and things that are happening around him. Maybe he did influence me partly of the commercial world. However, for every time he keep telling me that the price/cost/figure that makes it harder to sell. A purely price slashing industry.

If his managers and boss able to sell despite of the price slashing, how come he couldn’t. I know that price is one of the factor. What I’ve learned from my boss is that price is and must always be the last option. If everytime a salesperson go and slash price just to win the deal. Why not give it for free?

Anyway, my main point is that he told me that when he entered the commercial world, he made a very wrong move. He getting himself into a debt. Credit cards debt amounting to RM9k. With 3 credit cards. For what reason? Mobile phones. To top to that, he told me our old schoolmate, Soh also getting into deeper portion. Soh had 3 credit card and one of them is Citib*nk. They were very generous and kind as Citib*nk knew that Soh isn’t working at the that time, they banked in additional RM2k to him eventhough he still owe them RM5k.

Becoming a debtor especially to financial institution is part of modern lifestyles. And it’s a good topic to bring up too. Everyone in debt with someone. So am i. Stimyx.

Sugar

Under the Sun No Comments

According to a nasi lemak seller last night, sugar is still scarce. Limited amount can be purchased in a single day. Rationed. He had to buy almost everyday to keep stock despite the trouble for it.

Anyway, he told me that it was for the few months upcoming Hari Raya and Puasa month (fasting month). That period of time requires a large number of sugar or all the food will become tasteless.

So, sugar anyone?

Shot

Yesterday morning around 10am, there was an event that triggers the shock of setapakians. A young man, whom we believed is a TAR College or UTAR student was shot to death by a robber who rob him off at the ATM.

From word of mouth, I knew that the robber was wearing smart formal and carrying a pistol. What model, no one knows. They said that the robber killed the guy once the he got the money from him. However, the law enforcer act fast this time. They manage to surround the perimeter and the robber has no way to run or hide.

They manage to disable him by shooting at his thigh. Under such situation, in order to avoid from being caught and face the music, he took one trigger and killed himself on the spot. The bodies was there for more than 2 hours and caused the entire area under traffic congestion.

*Assumption : The robber must be losing quite a lot of money from the World Cup betting. Otherwise, according to Stanch, he’s a bookie who desperately need money to turn around the odd.

* Reason : Tuesday and Friday is the clearance day. The event took place on Tuesday morning.

Was it me or it’s just not me. I always like talk about people. Yes, I talk about my friend. Just like the other day, instead of watching football (Germany vs Portugal) I’ve decided to get something to read. I insisted to him that I heading to his place to get the books.

There, finding his residence is like a maze. Or it’s just me being unfamiliar with the area. Once i reached there, we talked a while. I think Jerry know who’s the person I’m talking about since I been to Jerry’s place before I go to his place. Maybe it was right question at the right time. Just outside his house, quiet and deserted area I throw him a question. I asked how was his life recently. And I follow up with the next question, “How he ended up working for his FIL and making much more lesser than he used to earn.”

As you know, the rest is history. We go deeper into the subject. Making choices, routine job, money oriented and child-like behaviour while at work. He told me that he made 3 wrong moves since he left high school. First was working as a butler, and being the youngest butler in Malaysia at that time. 17 years old butler. Imagine that. Later, he was the youngest credit authorizer in his previous company. He missed out the opportunity to move forward as he was more concerned about making extra 600-800 back then. I guess because he was doing part-time study which affected his judgement. Or the age wise then. Well, who can predict the future right?

I told him that I’m also the youngest currently. Youngest in the company as salesperson. He added that at least with my age now, i’m more mature to handle some issues compared to those fresh high school leaver. True also. He has his point. Which reminds me of the time those silly things I did in college. By the way, we did have a couple of friends still studying and they are studying Master degree. He told me that doing Master without working experience is pointless. No one or no corporation in Malaysia willing to pay the Master Degree holder salary given that a Degree holder for the same position. There are many cases of which my Master Degree friends are going through.

When he changed his job, he was making very much less. Yet, he manage to survive. He added that human has the ability to survive disregardless of the paycheck you are getting. Just some adjustment required. Like most of my senior clients told me, as a young man we need to work for experience and knowledge instead of money. True. I’m glad that I’ve been given a platform to learn and gain experience in this company. One hell of good company to work in. These people really groom you and willing to teach you too.

Back to my story, it was a interesting conversation with him because it has been more than 2 years since we have a proper talk. He’s one of the friends that I grew up with besides Sotong. :p

Firefox 2 Beta 1 Status

Firefox No Comments

Firefox 2 is out. But not ready for mass consumption. Errr.. meaning better wait and see.

The browser wars are heating up, as the first beta of Firefox 2.0 is due on Tuesday July 11th, and Internet Explorer version 7.0 is now on it’s third beta release.

Firefox fans, and browser junkies have an opportunity to get a jump on Tuesday’s beta, as a public “release candidate” has been posted on the Mozilla FTP site. This nightly build is finally feature complete, although it’s still not completely ready for mass consumption.

from PCMAG

and according from CyberNet, they have some tweak for FF2. Check them out.

Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 is scheduled for release on Tuesday but there are some things that I want to show you before you start using it. Things like removing the red “X” from each tab or maybe only placing a red “X” on the current tab. I will also show you how to prevent the scrolling tab-bar which is a feature that I am not too fond of. I have broken the page up into sections so if a section doesn’t interest you just skip to the next one.

As for me, I’ll just play wait and see.

coffee

Under the Sun No Comments

Love is like coffee. Bitter sweet. The dark coffee with its tempting aroma. Irresistable.

I wish you still working there. To have you serve me a cup of coffee. Your bitter sweet coffee. I look up to the sky, and asked “Why? Why Me?!”.

Now for every seconds I eyed at the cafe, it ached my very poor lonely soul. For not able to take a glance of you anymore.

I Love You So, My Coffee Girl.
