Understanding Me, Myself No Comments

It’s been quite sometime since I do a proper update on my blog. The hectic life of mine along with my super procastination, professionally witheld me from doing an update. Furthermore, for the past 2 week was a busy week for me.

With a 2 day off from work, I just malas-ing around. Busy doing nothing. Okay, I did partially clean up my room. Clean up my car with all the junk and rubbish kept inside. Later that week, I’m rushing off some work stuff and then comes along the company trip. The trip to Northern region. Where? Cannot tell. Later Sham find out. Anyway, the place was really sucks. But what to blame on when it comes to the budget constraint we having. That’s why I always stick to the sayings “Cheap things no good, good things no cheap”

With the World Cup fever ending soon, I hope for Zidane to get the Golden Ball and France winning the cup as for the retirement gift to Zidane. England who used to got beaten by World Cup champions for the first time losing to Portugal, whom never lifted the World Cup before. That’s something new and to celebrate for.

On the other hand, a friend of a friend was applying for a vacant in my workplace. Thus, she contacted me and ended up going for interview. After her second interview, she called me and bug me about her interview outcome. I told her that it was up to the management to decide. Furthermore, I also worried about her attitude and thinking since she’s currently jobless. I talked to my boss about it, and we share the common thing. She lack of experience, lack of confidence and monetary oriented. These criterias are contradict to the management requirements. We need someone good for such position and I can’t bear having someone so noob to help me out in work.

This drills down to the mentality and mindset of our graduates. Lacking of soft skills might be one of them. How about the eagerness to secure high paycheck instead of working for experience and learning? Added up that what we study in tertiary education doesn’t help out when we come out to work. Hehehe… see where do we fail? We can do better than that right?

Ubuntu

Under the Sun 4 Comments

At first, I thought to myself. What the fuck is so fucking famous with Ubuntu anyway? My impression is that Fedora Core 5 is way much more better. Or FC4? No idea since it’s been more than 12 months I am away from the Open Source community. In fact, losing touch of it.

Serious, using too much of MS XP makes u noob. Don’t blame him, just it’s way too user friendly that sometimes, you’ll takes thing for granted. Even if someone is even wayyyy too noob to use MS.

Here’s some findings from Wiki

Ubuntu, pronounced /ùbúntú/ (oo-BOON-too), is a predominantly desktop-oriented Linux distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux. It is sponsored by Canonical Ltd (owned by Mark Shuttleworth), and the name of the distribution comes from the South African concept of ubuntu—roughly, “humanity towards others”. It is released roughly every six months, more frequently than Debian. Each release comes shortly after new GNOME[1] It also has a stronger focus on usability than Debian. editions.

Ubuntu version 6.06 LTS, codenamed “Dapper Drake”, was released on June 1, 2006, and will be supported for 3 years on the desktop and 5 years on the server,[2] instead of the usual 18 months.[1] Ubuntu aims to use only free software to provide an up-to-date yet stable operating system for the average user. Ubuntu has a lively user and support community.[3][4]

Kubuntu and Xubuntu are official subprojects of the Ubuntu project to bring the KDE and Xfce desktop environments to the Ubuntu core, respectively. Edubuntu is an official subproject “designed for school environments, and should be equally suitable for kids to use at home.”

I did asked one of my friend, Druid what’s so good about Ubuntu anyway. He straight away told me, it’s apt-get. I was like. “uhm” , “ahm”, “ehm” and finally remembered that Xlanz did teach me what’s the use of apt-get. Some sort of automatic update from MS except that you can specify which application you required and it automatically download the right version for your system. As simple as that. And the update are very frequent too.

What yes and good about Ubuntu is that they come along with some common software.

Included software

The following list covers some of the software components included as part of version 6.06 of the Ubuntu Desktop. Much of it (such as GIMP, OpenOffice.orgFirefox) is considered standard software for the free desktop ( and see Examples of Free Software).

Most other free software can be obtained from the package repositories through Synaptic or the simplified Add/Remove Programs utility.

They bundled Firefox. Must try this OS one day. When I able to get a new pc. Any sponsors?

Cockles - The Shi Ham

Under the Sun 2 Comments

It was during one BBQ dinner that one of my colleagues asked, “Is the cockles still raw?” he was wondering that whether the cockles was well done. We told him that if the cockles was well done, the cockles will open up.

The other colleague added that if anything cooked well done, it will open up eventually. Same goes to the ladies. If they are ripe, their leg also easier to open.
