Do you ever feels that it is weird that almost everything we can gamble with? For us chinese, we are quite of gamblers. We can get anything to gamble with. Don’t believe it? Believe it!!!
For example in olden days, a person could gamble with the odd of raining or not. If it is rain, they will have a measurement of the quantity of the water on a bowl or plate. Well, that’s the basic of it. In a small community or society we live at, there’s always an event that kept the chinese people busy with. It is know as “Number Flower” or “Zhi Fa” (in cantonese). It range from 1 to 36 and there’s two session. Early and late session. Wonder that the game of this still available in today society? Usually the odd is 1 to 36.
But in Malaysia, most people are into the lottery tickets and 4 digits number betting. The odds? I also dunno coz’ i do not invest enough to be a professional or full timer. Any sponsors? On top of that, we are fortunate enough to have a one and only casino. And it is at the top of the highlands. While gambling for the big whales, other can have some funs at the entertainment facilities provided. That’s why big whale must visit Malaysia.
Then for small time gamblers or those so free nothing to do, we can opt for internal game of pontoon, black jack, chor dee (beat brother) or whatever a deck of cards can be played. Worse come to worse, the evergreen game of life. Mahjong!!! but I rather play Gin Rummy as it’s more easier (yeah, i am noob)
This reminds me of a time where I just wanted to test out my colleagues. Since they were discussing who in the company will get married first, most of them speculate that Alex will be the one getting married within year 2007. Therefore, I told them why not we have a pool betting? Everyone who wanted to play have to chip in a fixed amount of money, and pick a date of his marriage in this year. Whoever hit the closest to his marriage date wins the pool of money. If not, we carry it forward to next year. Luckily that they are not into that else, I become a illegal betting house :p
Now, come to think of it…… we need to bet and see whether whose cocka longer? Cocka? Aceone? Rojaks? or Linpeh? fast.. fast.. the odd is 10 to 1..
