Malaysian Internet Influencers

Blogosphere

Most of the recent influential internet bloggers was using certain benchmark. Just by the numbers or the figure shown. However, in my case to rate these influencers, especially the internet in Malaysia, is through the "chemistry" or "touch" they made to us, Malaysian. Here's are some of the list, which is not in order. liewcf.JPG 1. LiewCF (Copy and Paste) LiewCF came as the one of the influential of Malaysia internet due to the reason that he was making enough income from blogging. Labelled as a copy-and-paste blog, he was the first pro-blogger claimed to be. Kahsoon was following his footstep except that he was labelled as spammer in PPS. Having a site which featuring hottest bloggers, which most of it without their consent sparked some controversial among the bloggers. jeffooi.JPG 2. JeffOoi (Political Issue) He came into picture as the political blog to me. A hell lot of people knew about him and his informative blog. With recent defamation lawsuit, he influenced the growth of political blogs in Malaysia and strangely, 16% write about politics (according to Sabahan). That's why there's growth like mushroom after the rain ranging from Lim Kit Siang to Teresa Kok kennysia.JPG 3. KennySia (General with Humors) From the time I read his blog, he was so good with the words and how captivating his view of life. Soon, he gained the influential of the internet through the Xiaxue condemning Malaysia's toilet. This guy is so good in gaining attention and soon, attracting more and more ads to his blog. Most of non-bloggers and typical internet users does read his blog. They would consider him as a daily dosage to kick start their day. I knew it because every time the topic was about the blogsphere, they would asked me whether I know who is Kenny Sia and do i read his blog. rojaks.JPG 4. Rojaks Wingz (Humors and Manglish alike) Knowing him for sometime, I would position his not only as humorous bloggers which influence the Malaysia Internet but one of the pioneer blogging in Malaysian's broken English - Manglish. Through him, the growth of personal blog which mostly in broken English has been tremendous since the past year. With his recent Bloggers Together Gather party, he manage to position bloggers in a different perspective. pps.JPG 5. Aizuddin Danian / PetalingStreet (Important guy of PPS) Everyone knows about PetalingStreet. In order to gain and increase the readership of Malaysia market, they need to ping PPS. Being the first blogtal, or blog aggregator in Malaysia, it influences the local bloggers to a single point where everyone knows everyone. Whenever there's new blogger around, they would know because these new bloggers will be pinging the PPS. 6. Poh Huai Bin / Sixthseal (Cyberlaw & drug abuse) He was the first blogger gained the law enforcer attention. Due to the complains made by citizen of Malaysia through mass media, the officials was questioning HB on the things he blogged about. Soon, there his posts pertaining the drugs abuse was removed. From there, it was the beginning of the shaping of Malaysia cyberlaw. petertan.JPG 7. Peter Tan (Cyberlaw - racism police report) When there was a plenty of racism remarks appear in Peter's blog, Mack and Peter lodged a police report on the anonymous commenter. 8. Rocky Bru (Cyber lawsuit) Defamation and responsibility to the content one has blogged in the Internet. 9. Paultan (Paultan.Org) Paul Tan was the internet influencer in the automotive segment in Malaysia. With his blog capturing a huge number of local readers especially those whom concerns about the local car makers, a lot of related blog follow suits. Paultan.org was the first blog where all the information on local car can be obtained. Since he managed to capturing this niche market, no wonder he can be considered as local internet influencer. mycen.JPG 10. TVSmith (MyCen) When you need information about Malaysia, instead of Googling from every single search engine, MyCen provide the fast and immediate solutions. Compiling the list of all companies, corporates and government agencies from all corners, this website serve as a directory. Far more better than any other back then.

nuffnang.JPG

There are few innovative websites that was around, trying to influence the local Internet but yet… Some of them were just a clone itself namely like kawanster, digg clone, and spymy for example. There are also few promising sites that hopefully will influence the Internet of Malaysia. I'm looking at the nuffnang the local Internet advertising company. Hope soon there will be more from our local people, which is why Malaysia Boleh!!! Tags :Malaysia, blog, influence, Internet, jeffooi, KennySia, Humor, Politic, Weblog

I guess the main divide in the local blog radar… either they are Kenny Sia fanatic or they are Jeff Ooi Fanatic… but most of the young ones will just simply complained : “Why you don’t write like Kenny Sia one?”

And yeah, sometimes, that statement does bother me, and other bloggers too, I guess
Do you write like KennySia too? Or JeffOoi?
