Best things in life ….

comes with a price.

Before we further dwell into whether it has a price tag or not, we need to identify those best things in life we could have.

Each of us have our own definition of best things. It ranges from everything to anything depending on ones' experience and needs. I told a friend of mine that I beg to differ that best things in life comes with a price. In fact, I do think that some of the best things in life are priceless. There's no price tag on earth can be placed on the best things you had in life. That's my humble opinion. Yes, there are some that are pricey and cost a life, but are they really best? Nobody knows except the one who chooses to dwell into it.

An excerpt from Miss Nepal 2002. Very touching indeed. You can find the complete of her article here

Love is a four-letter word and it comes for free. It is the foundation on which our lives are based: mother's love, family's love, friend's love, lover's love, pet's love. No price tags attached, no terms and conditions. But we are so caught up in our own lives, trying to keep up in the fast-paced world that we have no time for those who really mean the most to us. Yes, it will cost you money to keep your relationships: to buy surprise gifts, to cook, to call, to sms. But that amount is nothing compared to the priceless feeling of knowing you have a friend who cares and who cares about you. The best things in life do come for free.

However, last night my conversation over the MSN with a friend of mine told me the opposite. She said that best things in life comes with a price. For everything we gained, we will lose others. One cannot have the best of both worlds. And that will be the price one have to pay. I do agree that to a certain extend. Yet, she complaining that if best things can be quantified and counted then it's pointless. Either she was sleepy or I was intoxicated which in the end I have no idea what she is talking about, or what I wanted to know about….

Then I stumbled upon another site, where kids voicing out their opinion about best things in life. Suddenly, I realized that my mentor used to tell me that I need to pay the price. Like gaining a freedom, which is the best things in life where each and every individual have to sacrifice and paying the price. Imagine the civil wars and liberation. How many lives of the innocent have been paid in order to redeem the freedom we have today?

 Best things in life ....

Come to think further, that today my friendship with my old buddy has been deteriorating. Is it this is the price I have to pay in order to stop both of them fighting each other? So, sometimes best things in life cost you an amount. Yes, it is a price I need to pay but what is the worthiness of the price I am paying?

After some struggle within, I came to a realization that there are some best things in life comes free and some comes with a price. If you were born with it, then it's free. Just like I'm blessed with love from the family and friends. It's free! However, when it comes to others for example falling in love, gaining financial freedom, gaining fame and being famous these will cost you a price. It comes with a price tag. The decision to make the deal or no deal is depending on yourself. Pay for the price.

Time to assess the worthiness of it.
