Repent

To Ponder About, Understanding Me, Myself

Long before today, I grew in multi cultural and multi racial community. Throughout my primary school, I grew up understanding Islam and my fellow Muslim friends. They are my best friend ever. I had a great brother who accepted Islam, and I not only grew up tolerating but accepting for who he is.

During my primary school years in Jalan Kuantan 2, I grew up improving my Malay language there. The first story book I bought was a "Cerita-cerita Legenda" from Minerva in Jalan Chow Kit. Since then, I started to collect my own collection of Enid Blyton's translation in Malay, known as "Lima Sekawan" (Famous Five), "Tujuh Penyiasat" (Secret Seven), and so much more. Besides Enid Blyton, I also collected such story books like Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. All was in Malay language. As I've mentioned earlier, those comics I read was not Marvel but rather local comic strip from Gila-gila, Ujang, and Lat.

As I entered secondary school, I realised that I need to improve on my English command. Hence, I started to read a lot in English from the novel thriller by Stephen Kings, and magazine like CLEO and Female. Besides that I was blessed with great English teacher, Mrs P.T. Singam whom inspired me to learn more about English in form of literature. Ranging from poetry, idioms and sayings. These helped me to enhance my command of English.

Throughout my tertiary education in TAR College, I met a bunch of friends whom came from a heavy Chinese background. From there and the association with them, I am able to speak even fluent Mandarin and Cantonese. Able to grasp certain characters and so forth. These was the time my Chinese get even better compared to older days. The bonus was my foul language in Chinese increased from just KNNCCB to southerns slang like "Lin Kun", "Kao Lin" and "Diao" as variation to the exisitng vocabulary.

Now that I came into the working world, I've learned even more in terms of tactful words and sayings. In fact, I felt I am getting better in painting a better picture in words that it does not hurt the targetted audience. Once a while, I will came across words that is so bombastic. For example, the word Repentance. Like repent on things we have said and done. How our words by the slip of tongue hurt others.

The old me used to curse and cuss a lot about others. I've learned that for every words I said, will be laid upon others who hear it. It will bestow to the person for what you said might come true. My mentor once asked me, "Have you ever send a gift to a person?" which I replied "Yes". Being a wise man, he added "What if the person does not willing to accept the gift?" and I replied hasty, "Then I have to take it back with me"
. He said that same goes when you curse or cuss upon someone. If the person not willing to accept it, then it will bestow back upon the person directly or indirectly.

Since that day, I tried my best not to say things I never meant. For from the slip of wound, it may recover. But from the slip of tongue, it may never heals.

Even the bible also said, from the Gospel of Luke, 13:1-5

1Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2Jesus answered, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? 3I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

The choice is yours.

On this day..
