Lesson of The Week : Lonesome vs Solitary

Huh?

When they asked you “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”, it actually means that the sadness in within. I can be solitary but not necessary lonesome. In fact, lonesome can be define as the state of sadness ones are. In other words, lonesome emphasizes a plaintive desire for companionship

On the other hand, solitary means the person is way apart. Part and being alone. Alone doesn’t mean lonesome. That is what we need to set things straight.

    How true that is :) I like solitude and being alone . I agree being alone doesn’t mean one is lonely , one is lonely when one craves for the company of another soul .
