Hainan Tea @ Low Yat Plaza

Rantings Ramblings

I went to Low Yat Plaza last night with a friend of mine. He was planning to upgrade his PC and there we go. Wake up late in the middle of the noon, I skipped both breakfast and lunch. So, by the time we reached Low Yat it was around 6pm.

When we finished our business of selecting the peripherals for upgrade, we got about 1 hour of time to loiter before they are done with the PC assembly. So, we headed to a nearby coffeeshop for a drink. Whether was it luck or anything, we came upon the Hainan Tea Station.

Since both of us lazy to walk any further, we decided to settle at this shop. We ordered coffee, toast and nasi lemak. Not to complain, but the service was worse. To begin with, my friend asked for the password to access their free wi-fi. One of the worker told my friend that the password was “A for Ten” in cantonese which sounds like “A Sap Ching” which suppose to mean “A10000″ but she meant type A ten times instead. This friend of mine keep trying and to no avail he unable to sign in. We asked the worker again, that what was the password? She then replied, “A for Elephant, ten times”. I was like flabbergasted… huh? “A for Elephant Ten Times”?

I repeat …

A for Elephant Ten Times

After repeating it few times, we conclude it means “AAAAAAAAAA” means 10 A’s. *sigh* incorrigible.

Apart from the event, another issue was with the services by the staffthere. When we requested from the same staff that we need extra sambal for the Nasi Lemak, she told us ‘OK’ then off she goes. After waiting for 5 minutes, I told my friend that his sambal is way gone because the staff was busy sms-ing. Gosh!

Then we go to request the sambal from the other staff. Again, we are ignored. They took our request and just leave it there and then. No one was taking action. I asked again and the staff just nod their head affirming that he knew what we wanted. But how about action? They are like chit chatting and doing other work but not attend to our request. *and this makes me pissed off by now*

Finally, after that we talked to the cashier whom demanded the staff to bring us the sambal. In the end, it was he himself that have to attend to our request. And the food are no much better.

By now, I took 2 notes of RM 10 out because I need to hand it over to my friend. Not sure whether I give them the signal to bring in the bill or not, they somehow efficiently and effectively bring the bill to my table. Wow… like can read my mind like that.

My friend was also pissed off by the services. And they do charge us for the poor services. Can I choose not to pay or is there any way I can file in a complaint?

I told my friend that in the end, we should bear with their poor services. For their inabilities to attend to our request at times because look….it is “Hainan Tea Station”. They are Hainan and in their culture, they are like that one. We called it “Kepala Angin” or 头风. This is not their fault. It is the matter of tribe.

and this is the 10% service charges they billed me.
